Fall Fashion Trends

Fall FashionFALL/WINTER TRENDS FORECAST

Holy pumpkin spice lattes, Batman, is it seriously fall already? At our home base in sultry southwest Florida, it doesn’t exactly feel like sweater weather yet, but we’ll just close our eyes and pretend real hard because fashion doesn’t wait for our first cold snap (Like, November, people!). Those in the know have already forecasted what to expect in colors and styles for this fall and into the frigid temps, and we are more than happy to share said True Fashionista knowledge. And this season, it’s all about comfort, practicality and making a statement.

LUXURY SNEAKERS

Luxury sneakers. Yep, we said it. It wasn’t enough to have Air Jordans back in the 80’s or today as Michael Jordan’s signature line hasn’t wavered much in popularity. The Air Jordan XXXIII line just recently debuted, as a matter of fact.  Lebron James and a host of NBA stars currently have their names on high-end brands as well. If you aren’t into repping a basketball player for coolness points, designer Japanese labels like visvim and Miharaysasuhiro go for a black hi-cut, high top look. Prada’s sneaker goes back to the Velcro days with its Spazzolato Rois 2-Strap style and patent white leather upper. Givenchy steps into the luxury sneaker ring with their Urban Street Mid-Top Suede Trainers. Gucci and Balenciaga are also making their mark in luxury comfort these days. (Bocadolobo.com) Now if you want a sneaker in say, navy blue, Christian Louboutin has your number. Don’t even ask, just know, that the sole of that shoe is his signature red.

COMFORT

Comfort and timeless wardrobe dressing is True Fashionista this season, as Joseph Altuzarra told Vogue before his recent fall runway show, “I wanted to make things that my friends and women I know want to wear.”  At the Givenchy fall show, a shaggy coat was among the styles, something to keep you warm and toasty this winter. Huge was also the word in Balenciaga’s multilayered coats. Take it as a statement that living “large” has its advantages.

GO ACTIVIST OR GO HOME

Designers are also following suit with activist organizations. People are talking about #MeToo, NeverAgain, Black Lives Matter and many more, so no surprise that designers have been inspired. Remember all those black dresses at the Golden Globes? #MeToo. Prada showed a utilitarian, hazmat suit ensemble at Paris Fashion Week, and also cut loose with a crazy use of reflective neon. The obvious message: safety first.

ANIMAL PRINTS

Dolce & Gabbana are back in the animal print game for winter, along with True Fashionista designers like Ashley Williams, Tom Ford and Michael Kors. The leather dress is back as well this season, in lengths from above the knee to ankle-length from Loewe, Hermès and Alexander McQueen. Its warm, its real and its in.

DESIGNER WINTERWEAR

Not that we in Florida can relate, but here are a bunch of weatherproof boots that actually look cool. Thank you, Elle! Also from Elle, a collection of scarves to wear however you please.

COLORS

If all this gets your head spinning just a bit, Bocadolobo makes it easy for you with a list of colors that are all the rage this season. Look for navy blue, autumn maple, neutral gray, toast, and scarlet red in home and fashion trends.
