When you go out, you may be wearing the cutest outfit in the store, but to really hit it home for the True Fashionista look, accessories are the answer. Yes, we all have our favorites from winning ensembles of past years that hold staying power, but fashion is all about what’s hot now. You’ll just be increasing your collection of fabo items to accent your summer dresses and linen pantsuits. There are plenty of new accessories that will be worn in the new decade, so as the temperature rises to triple digits and falls back to pleasantness here in southwest Florida, these pieces will stand the test of time and essential additions to your wardrobe. From statement necklaces to chunky boots, we’ve put together a list of trends we’ll be wearing this summer and beyond, indoors and only occasionally, out.

MULTI-COLOR BAGS

Previous years offered us these bags, but typically in fewer colors. This year, however, designers are matching several shades to offer a splash of eye-catching color to your ensemble. A rainbow suede stunner bucket bag by Christian Louboutin will bounce quite well off your red-soled stilettos, while Louis Vuitton steps up with their Monogram Escale Onthego GM Pastel bag large enough for all day fun. Pierre Hardy’s Alpha line of bags comes in several different sets of bright True Fashionista colors featuring oranges, blues, yellows and pinks with leather trim, and Kurt Geiger London offers up their Kensington leather cross-body featuring a chain strap and gorgeous pastel rainbow array of color.

COLORED SUNGLASSES FRAMES

Whether you dare to venture out of the house or prefer to wave to neighbors and passersby from the safety of your porch lounger, you’ll be hip and with it in your sunglasses rimmed with one of these colored selections and vibrant frames. They’ll instantly add excitement to your existing outfit, never mind that mint julep on the table next to the book you’ve been meaning to get into for ages. This year, find designs featuring a bright outer and traditional inner frame, or go monochrome with the same shade throughout the whole accessory. No worries, like other trends, you’ve got many months to enjoy this timeless look.

Elle has located a True Fashionista selection of frames to snag. Coco and Breezy follow the round Harry Potter shape trend with a serving of lime green. It’ll explain that craving for lime jello by all who spot you in them.  Throw a little yellow and blue in with the green and get Les Lunettes Yanco sunglasses in a cool block shape. Bottega Veneta cats-eye sunglasses in a gorgeous amber will light up your late afternoon gatherings, while Chanel’s square pink sunglasses also come with a built-in chain. Can’t beat that. While we’re on the square tip, you might want to consider Dior’s take on colored squareness with blue tint. They’re as oversized as legally possible. You can’t be missed in these!

BUCKET HATS

Defy the sun this summer with a tres chic bucket hat. Choose from shades like coral, charcoal or pink, or a print like the hat by Asos Design’s snakeskin or leopard. The bucket hat’s short, downward sloping brim sitting just above the eyes characterizes effortless style and fun, insists The Trendspotter.

MATCHING MINI POUCH

You’ve got a fabulous purse, why not have two? The mini pouch attached to a handbag, like sets from Chanel or Fendi, offer a special place to store not just your change, but a lipstick or, sigh, face mask. It is what it is, people. Might as well rock it.

HOOP EARRINGS

Never quite going by the wayside, hoops are officially IN once again, we are happy to report. Can they get even larger and chunkier? Of course they can! Pull your hair back into a pony or a bun and show ‘em off to the world to add the finishing touch to your outfit.

PADDED HEADBANDS

Is summer’s humidity getting the best of your hairstyle? No worries, pull it all back with an uber-stylish padded headband. A staple for generations, designers like Prada have grabbed them for an update. When a plain one just won’t do, go for Jennifer Behr’s crystal-embellished version or Ganni’s beaded crepe take on the subject.
